Welcome to the online home of the North Florida Professional Firefighters, an organization representing over 1,000 firefighters throughout the north Florida Region.
More affectionately known as the Gator Fire Council, the North Florida Professional Firefighters consists of firefighters and paramedics from Alachua County, Bradford County, Citrus County, Clay County, Gainesville, Lake City, Lake County, Marion County, Minneola, Ocala, Orange Park, Palatka, Putnam County, and Starke.
Members of the Gator Fire Council are also proud members of the Florida Professional Firefighters, an organization of 25,000 professional firefighters in the great state of Florida, and the International Association of Firefighters, who represents over 280,000 professional fire fighters in the United States and Canada.

It is with great sadness that the Gainesville Fire Rescue Department has lost one of our members to an early morning vehicle accident.
GFR was notified this morning of the death of Fire Driver-Operator Robert H.“Buddy” Gasche.
Buddy, as he was affectionately known, was 54 years old. He was hired as a Firefighter on January 2, 1990, promoting to the rank of Fire Driver-Operator on September 30, 2002. Buddy was a Certified Paramedic, Aircraft Rescue Firefighter, a member of the State Urban Search & Rescue Task Force and formerly worked for Alachua County Fire Rescue.
Buddy was a member of the Gainesville Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2157 for over twenty years. Buddy served the citizens of Gainesville bravely for over 20 years and was known for his love of people and a willingness to help anyone in need. He was an expert carpenter and gave freely of those skills to many department and charitable projects throughout his career.
Buddy was most notably known for his love and dedication to his daughter, Jordanna, who is 19. In addition to his daughter, Buddy is survived by his father, Robert Sr., mother, CarolGasche, and two sisters, Laurene and Tracy.
Funeral arrangements are being planned by the family with assistance from Gainesville Fire Rescue and Forest Meadows Funeral Home and will be released as they become available.
